A Resort Deck at Home

Several years ago we took a family vacation to Outer Banks National Seashore in North Carolina. The resort we stayed in had plenty of decks with ocean views. All of the decks were finished with deck caps. I really like this architectural feature. When we got home to Tennessee, I researched this product so I could recreate the look and have a resort- feel at home all the time. I found the deck caps on the internet and ordering was very simple and I am very pleased with the look of the finished product.

I decided on copper post caps for my deck at my house. My deck needed work. Some of the boards and posts were rotten and needed to be replaced. When the renovations were complete, I added the copper post caps. Copper matches well with my brick ranch home. I also like the way copper ages. Apples have always been one of my favorite fruits. While you can get good apples all year long, nothing compares to the delicious apples you can get locally during the fall season, fresh from the tree. The apples are extra crispy, juicy and flavorful and I often eat one or two a day. I remember when I was younger we always went apple picking to some of the local apple orchards. It was a bit of a road trip but we always had a great time and made a special day of it. We also made caramel and candied apples as a special treat too. In case you didn’t know, Gap, Old Navy, and Banana Republic are all owned by the same parent company. And in case you also haven’t noticed, their clothes tend to be very similar in their styling. So why not combine all three into one store? Is there are reason why there are three different brands, but the same company underneath it all? Well the answer is yes, there is a reason; so the three will not be joining forces to become one any time soon. The reason that there are three different stores is that they each aim to go after different economic segments of their market. Old Navy, the cheapest brand of the two, tend to go after more the more urban segment of the market. They offer trendy clothes that appeal to a broad demographic, but sell their clothes at reasonable prices that more people can afford.

The Gap.com on the other hand, focuses more on middle America. This brand has a preppy edge to it and is pricier than Old Navy. The styling is also more conservative. Finally there is Banana Republic which services the preppy Gap customer at a later stage in his life. Banana Republic tends to be more expensive ( most items are over $75) and is geared more toward the Yuppie or young professional individual who wants style and hasn’t had any kids yet, so he can afford more expensive clothes. Boy, was I right. Aux Mousquetaires Tapestry is what I was hoping for, and a lot more. The detail and care given to the scene is without rival.
