As a Beachbody coach, I’m often asked to create hybrid workout routines. Perhaps nothing is asked for more frequently than a hybrid routine for Insanity and P90X. For those of you who are new to Beachbody workouts let’s talk about each workout.
The Insanity workout program is one that goes sixty days. It’s a boot camp military style high speed, high impact calisthenics. While not for anyone who has weak or injury prone joints, the Insanity workouts can be very addictive.
P90X is a resistance training and cardio program where the P90X workouts can be divided into those where you work out with weights (sometimes all you need is body weight) and then on alternate days do workouts like plyometrics, yoga and Kenpo. The P90X workouts are more complete in that they provide a better range of muscles worked and more muscle development. And with the yoga, and x-stretch routines they even provide more stretching.
Combined together, the results can be awesome but I don’t recommend doing a P90X or Insanity hybrid workout until you’ve completed at least 1 round of P90X and a few weeks of Insanity.
